Iron Men for AMC 2012Thu Nov 1, 2012
On 1st July 2012 Seán McCarthy and Ciarán Avitabile competed in an Ironman in Austria to raise much needed funds for the Arthrogryposis Association of Ireland. The guys are no strangers to triathlons but it is the first time they had attempted the full Ironman distance.
An Ironman is a long-distance triathlon which involves swimming 3.8km, cycling 180km and running 42km (that's a full marathon!). All this without a break - the clock doesn't stop until they cross the finish line some 13 hours later!
Sean and Ciaran rasied over over €3000 for their event. All donations raised from this massive feat of endurance has gone towards spreading information about AMC in the form of funding to help us create our leaflets and distribute them to hospitals and medical clinics nationwide. And also helped upgrade our website to spread the word of our Association and of AMC over the world wide web.
Thank you Ironmen for going the distance for AMC in Ireland!
